In celebration of its new three-year partnership deal with Cricket Australia, Optus today released an exclusive behind-the-scenes 360 degree video featuring Australian cricket superstars including Captains, Steve Smith and Meg Lanning like they have never been seen before.
In a first for Cricket Australia, Smith and Lanning debut with teammates Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch and Ellyse Perry to unveil a series of trick shots performed from every angle to give viewers a unique three dimensional experience.
The footage sees the sports stars doing what they do best, reimagining the game and performing shots that go well beyond standard play, while lifting the lid on pitch-side banter.
Optus customers will get even closer to the action in a new interactive view of gameplay, with specially designed helmet cameras filming through the eyes of both cricket superstars.
Viewers can control the vision on their mobile by tapping and dragging to get the full circle view, or with the YouTube app on an Android device, by simply moving their phone to pan.
The content is a pre-season teaser to the hours of on-demand unique cricket content that Optus customers can expect this summer.
Paul Rybicki, Optus’ Head of TV, Mobile Video and Content said, “Increasingly, customers look to Optus for an experience they can’t get anywhere else. We’re excited to see customer reactions to this unique piece of content as they experience just the tip of what’s about to come their way through our partnership with Cricket Australia.”
Ben Amarfio, Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Media, Communications and Marketing said, “This is truly unique content and gives fans an amazing insight into some of our most exciting cricketers.
“Clearly video is the most powerful modern medium to connect with our fans. Cricket Australia is excited to be working with Optus to harness the power of technology and sport to deliver the best experiences for fans – on and off the field.”
