Optus Support Network has taken out Highly Commended at this year’s Mumbrella Sports Marketing Awards in the category, Sports Ad Campaign of the Year.
Behind every Olympic Moment is a Support Network. The family, friends, coaches, teammates and mentors who help the athlete focus on improvement and qualification. We recorded the calls from a number of different Australian Olympic hopefuls back to their own support network at the very moment they were selected to go to the 2016 Rio Games. The calls were unstaged, unrehearsed and recorded through app technology on the athletes phone. This approach meant we could capture the raw, real, honest and authentic emotion felt at that moment by the athlete when they shared their news with their own support network.
The campaign was a collaboration between The Works (originators of the idea), Amobee, UM and Emotive.
